"It may be too smart."

submission: sherry enema: #2
date: June 20, 2008

I've read a couple of reviews where people don't get the message. I think your witty sarcasm may be a bit too smart. This fact just makes me sad that guns get to people so easily.

June 21, 2008

Author's Response:

I don't know if I'm any smarter than Newgrounds, and there are smarter people than me who believe the opposite. I suppose it's just the way you think about these things.

The Treeva Experience

"Having a tree on your head, a neat concept"

date: September 4, 2007

However my concern is mostly with the flow of energy. How does the tree effect everyday in terms of energy to be more precice. For example does the tree make its own energy through photosynthesis or does it rely on the host, or could it work the other way? The person gaining energy from the tree. But that option also begs the question of what happens durring the winter when the sun is not so prevalent and the growth of leaves would be a waste. Does the tree have reserve energy in it's trunk to survive the winter? If not does the person regrow the tree each year on extra energy gained from the tree. And how would the environment affect such a tree. Would the tree provide more energy if it was between the tropics? Also senses are a dilema. Would the tree have nerve endings? Would it be able to feel pain, would insects inside affect the person on whom it has grown? And would every leaf falling affect the person in such a way? If not how is it attached? Is it simply a growth such as hair or nails? And if that's the case would it not be prudent to simply remove it? These are simply the questions that ran through my head when I first saw your creature.

On to the actual review. I like your animations. They were done well and look polished. The interactivity doesn't qualify it as a game to me. Like in your description this works very well as a website to display your unique style, however as a flash game, I see no important connections. It's simply a good work of flash with no genertic title, a problem you want to have. Good work. Hope you didn't get too bored with this long article.

Author's Response:

Woah, you're thinking a wee bit too hard about the concept of a tree/person hybrid there, buddy. It's more symbolic than it is literal, I'd say.
I'd say she's more of a super advanced tree, though, if I were forced to make an observation. She barely moves or acts except when she needs to, meaning she'd require less energy to survive. Also she can't really move, in place of legs is the trunk of the tree, meaning she only has the head and torso of an actual person. Also, the secret section suggests that she was once a real person, which might then suggest that this tree form is more of a prison for her. The fact that she has severed finger pinecones and hand palm leaves (did you notice those? The scrapbook's full of info on that y'know) hanging from her branches suggests she might gain power from consuming people, somehow... which might also suggest where all these introductions to the sections are coming from? It's something I'd love to elaborate on in the form of a sequel or something, but that won't be for some time. *writes the word suggest a few thousand more times* Hope you didn't get too bored with my response. :p Thanks for the review!

The Playstation 3 will be the system that shuts down Sony's gaming division. They already lost billions on the psp. Foolish sony.

Author's Response:

Yes indeedy, foolish Sony. They'll survive though, they've got enough fans still clinging to hope. Nintendo survived some rough years, after all.

"This...is..."

THE GREATEST FLASH EVER TO GRACE THE FRONT PAGE OF NEWgROUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!. THE DARKENED SKY REPRESENTING THE DARK FUTURE. THE OBVIOUS IRONY OF WHEN THE BADGER CARES ABOUT BEING KILLED WHEN IT'S OVIOUS THAT HE'S KILLED BEFORE. THE DUALITY OF THE ARROWS. THE ARROWS BEING BENT WONT REACH THEIR INTENDED TARGET POSSIBLY FORESHADOWING PERIANS ATTEMPTS. ALSO THE ARROWS PRODUCE NO BLOOD!!! THIS HAD DEEP SYMBOLIC MEANING. BECAUSE BLOOD IS THE LIFE FORCE OF HUMANS IT IS EASY TO SAY THAT BECAUSE THE ARROWS DREW NO BLOOD THAT THE ARROWS WERE NOT DRAWING BLOOD AT ALL. WHICH MIGHT MEAN THE SPARTAN COUNTER ATTACK WILL NOT FULLY KILL PERSIA. WHICH IS HISTORICALLY ACCURATE. THE LIGHT IN THE BADGERS' EYES EASILY SYMBOLIZES THE HONOR THEY EXPECT IN JOINING THIS HISTORICALLY EPIC BATTLE. OH AND HOW THEY GET IT.

THANK YOU FATBADGER AND CO. YOU HAVE SUCCESFULLY CREATED A FLASH MOVIE TO SHAKE THE AGES FOR ALL ETERNITY FOR FOREVER. NONE CAN MATCH YOUR SKILLS WHEN IT COMES TO CREATING NOT ONLY ART BUT TRUTH! 10% WAS SHONE IN THIS MOVIE WHILE THE MORE IMPORTANT 90% WAS HIDDEN. YOUR VISION AND DEDICATION SHOULD BE AN INSPERATION TO ALL THOSE WHO ASPIRE TO WORK ON FLASH. (THAT MEANS YOU TOM) THE SHEAR SCOPE OF THE VIDEO AND HOW EVERY GENERATION HERE TO COME WILL ENJOY IT BRINGS A TEAR TO MY EYES.

I SAW THE MEANING HERE, AND HOW CLEAR IT WAS. THE MEANING OF LIFE. AND HOW RIGHT YOU ARE. MY PURPOSE IS CLEAR AND I THANK YOU FOR YOUR INSIGHT INTO THE MATTER. I HOPE EVERYONE ENJOYED THIS FILM AS MUCH AS I DID. THOSE WHO THOUGHT THIS TO BE BAD ARE JUST MEARLY NOT LOOKING INTO THEIR HEARTS OR THE MOVIE'S. I IMPLORE YOU TO VOTE FAIRLY ON THIS MOVIE FOR IT IS THE GREATEST EVER REST ITSELF IN MY MEMORY.

PLEASE I BEG YOU! MAKE MORE MOVIES OF THIS CALIBER.

"He can dodge bullets?"

submission: .Pollution.
date: October 17, 2006

But he can't dodge the slow moving hand of a human, which according to these physics he could cut off. Ugh the whole throw out all realism thing just pissed me off. It was a pretty good flash, good graphics and alright music. But the fact that this one guy who is surounded by bullets manages to live. Just. Makes me angry. I could see this beast taking on like 5 but not 20. Hit the realism and you should have yourself a winner.

Author's Response:

Hit the realism and we would have gotten ourselves a 5 second clip of the hero getting shot in the head.

"Who exactly are you trying to piss off"

date: October 17, 2006

It was a crappy movie, granted, but it doesn't really matter to me at all that it was on the front page. I wouldn't put it there, but then I'm not tom fulp. I just don't understand who Tom is trying to piss off here because it seems totally rediculous that anyone would get even remotely pissed off by this.

Author's Response:

The reaction you had to this movie should be placed on a pedestal for all to see. Quite a fine example to set my lad. Thank you.

Castle Prologue

"I hope this actually comes out."

submission: Castle Prologue
date: October 9, 2006

It would be nice if a preview turned into a movie, but I do have some critisicm(not spelled right at all) I felt that the parralel universe bit was not needed. That just seemed convinient, simply going into the ancient story would have been better, it's obvious it's not happening in out world, the word choise for the most part was good, and the naration except for some sound issues that could not have been avoided(not sure if that is true) was excelent. You did a good job but for those people with stuff in their butt, that stuff just anoys them. I thought you did a great job and look forward to seeing this come out. Which I hope it does.

Thanks alot.

Blockhead: Episode 7

"Next 5 years,"

date: June 1, 2006

Wow, the only thing that can compare to this is when in xmen three THE LAST STAND, the jugernaut says that one line(not going to spoil it). That one line is so amazing, I am going to be saying it for the next five years, and you know what else? I am going to be talking about blockhead for the next 5 years. This episode is so good, the clearness of the animation the humor blockhead's consience it all has improved. I don't know how you do it. Oh, and by the way I think blockhead is a lot smarter than anyone thinks. I think he is smarter than einstien.

Author's Response:

I agree with you on the Jug's line from Xm3n...Vinnie Jones is close to being my favorite actor (next to Geoffrey Rush and Gary Oldman), and I was thrilled to hear he'd been cast for that movie. So phenomenal. *tear*

I don't try to make my cartoons quotable, but I do enjoy when it happens. And Blockhead, he is certainly the lovechild of Brilliance and Idiocy, but what that makes him I cannot confess just yet.

the song was ok, but it did relate really really well so kudos, but the whole animation was really crouded, you might want to free up some space, maybe some better pictures too, not bad though just needed fine tuning.

Thank you for the constructive criticism. The flash has been improved und updated in July.
